The Bottom Line
If you're going to rent or buy this film, my suggestion is to stop the movie near the end and come up with your own closing act. Whatever you come up with will be better than writer David Benioff's ending.
- The acting rises above the script
- Visually stunning
- There are a few nice little twists - until you get to the ending...
- The ending leaves you feeling a little cheated

Guide Review - "Stay" DVD Review
Dr Foster hasn't treated many suicidal patients however his girlfriend (Naomi Watts) is a former patient who tried to check out by slicing up her wrists. She advises him on how to handle Henry, yet things quickly spin out of control. Nothing is as it seems as Foster soon realizes when he tries to track down the suicidal Henry.
There are more than enough twists and turns and red herrings thrown in to keep you guessing. With first-rate acting and gorgeous cinematography, "Stay" should be a compelling thriller...but it comes to a flawed conclusion. No spoilers here but suffice it to say it's probably not what you expect. Although that's usually a good thing for a thriller, in the case of "Stay" it's not.
DVD Bonus Features
Marc Forster and Ryan Gosling discuss a few scenes from the film and their explanations of the motivations behind the sequences are fairly interesting and entertaining. The same can be said about the Departing Visions featurette. Only the 'Music of Stay' bonus feature is dry - and about what you'd expect from composers discussing music.
