Genevieve, a foreign exchange student from Paris, moves in with Starla's family in an attempt to help boost Starla's grade in French and keep her from getting kicked off the cheerleading squad. Genevieve appears to be a fish out of water but when she's featured in the school newspaper telling her tale of misfortune and lost love, Starla feels the tide of her perfect world begin to shift.
