Amber Tamblyn on What Sets "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" Apart: "I think that this book gets a lot of things right about young women. I think that it doesnt clone them as being hateful of each other. To me thats very important. When you think about films for young women, theyre only entertaining if the girls are hating each other or fighting over a guy. And thats true of Hollywood and thats part of the stereotype and cliché. And this is not. This is about four girls with independent problems dealing with very different issues. And when they come together, thats where theyre core strength comes out."
Is "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" a Chick Flick?: "Well, yeah, you look at it and theres a giant ass on the poster with pants. A girls butt and four girls like giggling in the poster. Its very sweet. Its very sweet but I think the most important word to use for this film is sophisticated. I think its a very sophisticated film.
This will be the fourth time Ive seen this film. Im very proud of it and I think its a great movie for women of any age. And almost every single man Ive talked to has admitted to crying."
Summing Up "Sisterhood:" "I think at the end of the day this movie is respecting what we as women go through as we grow up. The experiences, what we deal with, other women, things about images, things that we deal with as women. This movie addresses that in a very appropriate and sincere way."
