SIDEWAYS has not only shattered Searchlight's gross records, the film continues to make history by out-grossing previous films in its class including LOST IN TRANSLATION, GOSFORD PARK and THE HOURS, none of which exceeded $45 million. In addition to its commercial success, SIDEWAYS has become the most celebrated film of 2004. SIDEWAYS won the Screen Actors Guild Ensemble Award, two Golden Globes(R) for Best Picture/Comedy and Best Screenplay, four Critics Choice Awards including Best Picture, Best Ensemble and Best Screenplay. The film is nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress; a Writers Guild Award for Best Original Screenplay and six Independent Spirit Awards including Best Feature, Best Director and Best Screenplay. The film earned Best Picture honors from the Los Angeles, New York Film Critics Circle, Chicago, London Critics Circle, Toronto, San Francisco, New York Online, Washington Area and Boston critics groups and was named to the top 10 lists of more than 350 critics lists including the American Film Institute, National Board of Review, Rolling Stone and Newsweek amongst others.
