Jan 12, 2005 – New Line Cinema has picked up the film rights to "The Optimist" with Seann William Scott ("The Rundown") attached to star in and produce the film. Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein ("The Simpsons") are writing the script.
According to the press release from New Line, "The Optimist" is the story of a man who was born without the gene for unhappiness. His perspective changes when he falls in love with a cynical reporter.
Scott will next be seen in "Southland Tales" from writer/director Richard Kelly ("Donnie Darko").
