"Saw" Becomes Lions Gate Films' Fastest Selling DVD

Feb 23, 2005 - "Saw" is setting records for Lions Gate Home Entertainment. The twisted horror pic from newcomers Leigh Whannel and James Wan now stands as the fastest selling DVD in the company's history.

"Saw" grossed over $50 million domestically during its theatrical release.

"Saw is exactly the type of film that we anticipated would resonate with DVD consumers immediately," said Steve Beeks, President of Lions Gate Entertainment Inc in a press release. "This genre is always among the most popular with the DVD consumer and the fact that it was a huge hit at the box office proved that it had captured the imagination of horror film fans everywhere. We also gave it a unique package that has been met with great response from retail and grabs the consumer's eye."

Obsessed with teaching his victims the value of life, a deranged, sadistic serial killer is abducting morally wayward people and forcing them to play horrific games for their own survival. Faced with impossible choices, the victims must struggle to win back their lives ... or else die trying.
