June 14, 2004 - Denise Richards ("Spin City," "Wild Things") has signed on to star in the LIFETIME original movie, "I Do (But I Don't). "I Do" will be the actress' first role since giving birth to daughter Sam Sheen.
"I Do (But I Don't)" is a romantic comedy about a wedding consultant dealing with work and a complicated private life. The cast also includes Marcia Gay Harden, Anne Heche, Debra Winger, Mary-Louise Parker, Kim Delaney, Lauren Holly, Kathleen Quinlan, and Dana Delany. Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder adapted Cara Lockwood's novel and Kelly Makin will direct the film.
In a statement issued by LIFETIME, Trevor Walton, Senior Vice President, Original Movies, said, "Denise is such a refreshing actress and a perfect fit for this light-hearted movie. Viewers will fall in love with the endearing and charming character that she will bring to life."
Richards' film credits include "The World Is Not Enough," "Wild Things," "Love Actually," "Scary Movie 3," "Drop Dead Gorgeous," "Undercover Brother," and "Starship Troopers." Richards has also appeared on the TV shows "Spin City," "Two and a Half Men," "Melrose Place," "Seinfeld" and "Friends."
"I Do (But I Don't)" Official Synopsis
Based on the popular novel of the same name by Cara Lockwood, "I Do (But I Don't)" follows the often comical ups and downs of divorced wedding planner, Lauren Crandell. Lauren, in her late 20s, must deal daily with a manipulative boss, an over-bearing mother, a lack-luster love life and one pushy bride-to-be after another. While planning the nuptials for her most challenging client yet -- a certifiable "Psycho Bride" -- she meets hunky fireman, Nick Corona, and sparks instantly begin to fly. To Lauren's utter shock, she learns a few days later that Nick is engaged to the "Psycho Bride," and against her better judgment, finds herself falling in love with him. Normally the consummate professional, Lauren is torn between her duties as the wedding consultant and her feelings for Nick.
