Keanu Reeves ("The Matrix" trilogy) and Catherine Zeta-Jones ("Intolerable Cruelty") have indicated they're interested in starring in the Johnny Stompanato biopic, "Stompanato."

Adrian Lyne will direct the film, with Beau Flynn, Tripp Vinson and Erwin Stoff producing. David and Janet Peoples and Sebastian Gutierrez wrote the script.

The official version of events: On Good Friday 1958, Lana Turner and her boyfriend, Johnny Stompanato, were in the middle of a vicious fight when Turner's 14 year-old, Cheryl Crane, grabbed a carving knife and stabbed Stompanato in the stomach. He died on Turner's bedroom floor.

Keanu Reeves recently completed work on "A Scanner Darkly," directed by Richard Linklater, and "Il Mare" with Sandra Bullock.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has just completed filming "The Legend of Zorro" with Antonio Banderas.
