Variety is reporting Keanu Reeves, the star of "Constantine" and "The Matrix," will take on the lead role in "The 8th Voyage of Sinbad" for Columbia Pictures."The 8th Voyage of Sinbad" will be directed by Rob Cohen ("XXX") and produced by Neal Moritz. Charlie Mitchell is currently at work rewriting the script.
The film will follow Sinbad (Reeves) and his crew's adventures off the coast of China. According to Variety, Sinbad and his men will search for the Lamp of Aladdin, battle incredible creatures, and face a Chinese general with supernatural powers.
Keanu Reeves is currently in pre-production on "Il Mare" which will reunite him with his "Speed" co-star, Sandra Bullock. Reeves recently wrapped work on "A Scanner Darkly," tentatively set for release in early 2006.
