Guide Review - "Pride and Prejudice" DVD Review
"Pride & Prejudice" stars Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet, the most outspoken and independent of the five Bennet sisters. Based on Jane Austen's classic book, the story follows the efforts of Mrs Bennet to get her large brood married off to appropriate husbands.Elizabeth meets up with the taciturn yet handsome Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) and although her mother believes he could be Mr. Right, Elizabeth's far from convinced. Vowing he's the last person on earth she'd ever fall in love with, the two soon find themselves forced together in social situations. Darcy tries to hide his feelings yet soon finds himself admitting he's fallen for the beautiful Elizabeth.
Dame Judi Dench, Jena Malone, Donald Sutherland, Brenda Blethyn, Rosamund Pike and Tom Hollander also star in director Joe Wright's critically acclaimed version of Austen's endearing romantic tale.
DVD Bonus Features
The "Pride & Prejudice" DVD includes a couple of decent behind the scenes featurettes. The story of Jane Austen is very dry, however the 'Bennet Family Portrait' and 'Behind the Scenes at the Ball' featurettes provide details on shooting the film that movie buffs should get a kick out of. Director Joe Wright's commentary track is focused and he does a good job of talking about each specific scene without going off on too many tangents.
