Pitt will star as the outlaw Jesse James. Shepard will co-star as his brother, Frank. Casey Affleck is set to play Robert Ford.
Based on the novel by Ron Hansen (who also wrote the screenplay), "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" will be directed by Andrew Dominik ("Chopper").
The film follows Robert Ford, a member of Jesse James' gang who becomes jealous of James and plots to kill him.
Filming will take place in Canada starting in September 2005.
