"Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" (2010)
Movie Synopsis: It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson's Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they're not happy: Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy's mother.
As Percy adapts to his newly discovered status as a demi-god (his father is Poseidon), he finds himself caught between the battling titans of Mt. Olympus. He and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy's mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

(July 2009) Chris Columbus credits his interest in "Percy Jackson" to still being a kid at heart. "I love to see movies where I haven’t seen things before, and I haven’t seen the world of Greek mythology done really well on screen. It’s always those cheesy stop-motion monsters, so I really wanted to do them in a much more interesting way."

(March 2009) Sean Bean as Zeus, Uma Thurman as Medusa, and Kevin McKidd (a personal fav of mine following his incredible work on "Rome" and "Journeyman") as Poseidon. Can I get in line for a ticket now? I don't even care what "Percy Jackson" is about, I'm sold just by reading that cast list.
