Other actors being considered for the role - or at least rumored to be in the running - include Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, Colin Firth, Julian McMahon, James Purefoy and the man who seems to be in every film in late 2004, Jude Law. In addition, "King Arthur" star Clive Owen is thought to have a shot at the sought-after role. Speaking to Newsweek, Clive Owen said hasn't been approached by MGM about playing James Bond. "It's nothing but rumor, and to be brutally honest, if they did come out and offer it to me, I have no idea how I'd react," Owen told Newsweek.
In other Bond news, rumors are also circulating filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is still interested in directing "Casino Royale" with Pierce Brosnan returning as Bond. But Tarantino's said he doubts the studios will allow him to make his vision of the film. He feels the recent Bond movies have been spoofs, and he'd return "Casino Royale" to the spirit of the original Ian Fleming novel.
