Nine-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis took over the title of youngest Best Actress nominee with her first Oscar nomination in 2013. Wallis stars in Beasts of the Southern Wild which also marks her first feature film role.

Wallis took over the title from Keisha Castle-Hughes who earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her role in the New Zealand movie, "Whale Rider," at the age of 13. Keisha Castle-Hughes lost to "Monster" star, Charlize Theron.
