Ocean's 13 DVD

The Bottom Line

George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt lead the cast of Ocean's Thirteen, the third - and apparently final - film of the Ocean's franchise. If this is indeed the last one of the bunch, then the star-studded caper series is going out with a bang. Ocean's Thirteen is easily as entertaining as Ocean's Eleven (and it'll make you forget Ocean's Twelve even exists).

Guide Review - Ocean's Thirteen DVD Review

The Story

The guys are back for one final caper in Ocean's Thirteen, a romp that finds the Ocean's gang in Vegas preparing to take down a nasty casino owner who double-crossed their buddy, Reuben Tishkoff (Elliot Gould). Upset over his dealings with Willie Bank (Al Pacino), Reuben has a heart attack and lapses into a coma. Not about to let one of their own go down without a fight, Danny Ocean's gang figures the only way to get even is to bust the bank at Willie's new casino.

The Bonus Features

With such a huge cast to draw upon, you'd think there'd be at least one commentary track on the Ocean's Thirteen DVD - especially if it is in fact the last film of the Ocean's franchise. Unfortunately, the lack of a bonus track isn't made up for by the bonus features included on the DVD.

There are 5 additional scenes, none of which would have improved the finished film had they been included, and a very short featurette with producer Jerry Weintraub offering a behind-the-scenes tour of the set. The DVD's best extra material is the 'Vegas: An Opulent Illusion' documentary which provides a detailed history of the Nevada town and is definitely worth checking out, even if you're not into gambling and/or Vegas.
