Ocean's Thirteen stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Don Cheadle and producer Jerry Weintraub have founded the International Rescue Committee for Not On Our Watch, a charitable group whose goal is to support humanitarian relief efforts in Darfur. The Hollywood heavy hitters will be criss-crossing the United States taking part in events to benefit Not On Our Watch and the citizens of Darfur.
After premiering Ocean's Thirteen at the Cannes Film Festival on May 24th, Clooney, Pitt, Damon and Weintraub will travel to Hollywood for the first stop on a North American promotional tour. The Ocean's Thirteen cast and their producer will make history on June 5, 2007 at 11:30am PST when their hands and footprints will join the elite group of stars immortalized in cement in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Weintraub is the first producer in history to receive such a high honor. Later that same evening the historic theater will play host to the North American premiere of the caper comedy.
From Hollywood the all-star cast and crew will travel to Las Vegas, where Ocean's Thirteen will open the CineVegas Film Festival with a special benefit screening. Cast members expected to attend the Not On Our Watch benefit will include Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Cheadle, Ellen Barkin and Andy Garcia as well as producer Weintraub. Chicago's AMC River East and Vanity Fair will host the last stop on the benefit tour. The June 7th event will also feature stars from Ocean's Thirteen and support the aid group International Rescue Committee for Not On Our Watch.
In a press release announcing the Ocean's Thirteen events Weintraub stated, It was such a privilege to reunite with Steven Soderbergh and an amazing cast to make Oceans Thirteen. I am very proud of the film, and I am excited about premiering the film in multiple cities across the country. However, the thing I am most proud of by far is that these events will benefit a cause that is very important to me and my colleagues.
