The Bottom Line
It's tough to beat the performances of Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett in Notes on a Scandal. These two critically acclaimed actresses are at the top of their games in this dark and disturbing movie based on the novel What Was She Thinking: Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller. With first rate supporting performances by Bill Nighy and relative newcomer Andrew Simpson, Notes on a Scandal is an absorbing - if at times frustrating - drama for adult audiences.

Guide Review - Notes on a Scandal DVD Review
Cate Blanchett stars as teacher Sheba Hart, a newcomer at the school where Barbara Covett (Judi Dench) has taught teenagers for years. The two women are polar opposites in temperament and teaching styles, yet they're drawn together into an almost immediate, intimate friendship. But both women are hiding secrets that, when revealed, will alter their relationship and their lives forever.
The Bonus Features
The Notes on a Scandal DVD includes above-average behind the scenes featurettes that really explore the story and how each of the characters were developed. The cast, director, screenwriter, and author lend their thoughts to the film's multilayered story, really allowing the audience into the process.
