Guide Review - Nanny McPhee DVD Review
Emma Thompson and Colin Firth head up the large ensemble cast of the family movie, Nanny McPhee. Thompson (who also wrote the screenplay) stars as the magical Nanny McPhee, a mysterious woman with special powers who takes on the arduous task of teaching the seven children of widower Cedric Brown (Firth) how to mind their manners and behave.DVD Bonus Features
It's easy to tell what sort of relationship director Kirk Jones had with his young cast of actors by the way he interacts with them during their DVD commentary. He's patient, asks their opinions, and even quizzes them about certain scenes to keep them involved in the commentary. Theirs is an interesting commentary track to listen to because the kids act like kids (including eating while doing their commentary, taking bathroom breaks, and getting bored with the process). But if you want insight into the making of the film, then listen to Emma Thompson and producer Lindsay Doran's commentary instead.
Additional bonus features include deleted scenes, interviews with the entire cast, and a special featurette on creating the set for Nanny McPhee.
