Guide Review - "Nacho Libre" Special Collector's Edition DVD Review
Jack Black stars as Ignacio, a monastery cook by day and Luchador by night. In order to earn money to buy decent food for the orphan kids, Ignacio transforms into the notorious Nacho Libre. Donning a Luchador mask and skintight pants, Nacho Libre takes on the best wrestlers in Mexico and establishes himself as a force to be reckoned with in the ring. But Nacho Libre must keep his alter ego - and his love for the beautiful Sister Encarnacion - a secret. His performances in the ring would not be appreciated or accepted by the powers that be at the monastery...
DVD Bonus Features
The set of five featurettes provides an in-depth look at life on the set with cast and crew interviews. They're funny rather than informative, but that's about what you'd expect from the Nacho Libre team.
For the commentary track Jack Black, writer/director Jared Hess and writer Mike White order up Mexican food and crack each other up between bites. Listening to them munch starts out being funny, but gets a little annoying after 10 minutes or so. However, chewing aside, it's still worth checking out to hear the three discuss staging scenes and working in Oaxaca.
