Juggling My Super Ex-Girlfriend and The Office: This movie actually I shot while doing The Office. I was literally flying back and forth from LA to New York. It was a very interesting story because they werent going to let me do the movie. NBC Universal wasnt going to let me do it and New Regency wasnt going to let me do it because of the dangers of me being in whats called first position by The Office. Im owned by The Office because Im under contract with them. Ivan Reitman personally financially guaranteed my days on the movie. In other words, if I was shooting a scene for Super Ex-Girlfriend and The Office called and said, We need Rainn back in LA to shoot The Office, Ivan had his money on the line to guarantee my days at the studio.
He really believed in me and put it all on the line to cast me in the movie but there was a lot of crazy shooting Office all week, flying on Friday night, shooting Saturday and Sunday, flying back Monday morning and shooting The Office again. There was a lot of that during the fall and winter.
Next Season on The Office: I don't know whats happening this season. I hear these rumors flying around here and there. I havent heard anything from anyone so Im just excited to read some scripts and show up to work and have a great time. I love doing the show so Im the luckiest guy in show business.
Being Recognized on the Street: What do most people recognize Rainn Wilson from? Wilson said, Now its The Office but theres still a lot of Six Feet Under people that are rabid Six Feet Under fans who are very excited to meet Arthur Martin.
Wilson says of those characters he believes hes most like Vaughn. Im going to say that probably actually Vaughn is the most like me, more than Dwight or Arthur. The difference being that Vaughn gives terrible advice . Except terrible advice, but as a character, Im most like Vaughn. 12 years in New York City, college educated, articulate. Id say Im a lot more like him than an uptight paper salesman or a creepy mortician intern.
