Guide Review - "Mr and Mrs Smith" DVD Review
How well do you really know your spouse? That's the question asked in "Mr and Mrs Smith," a deliciously entertaining action/romance film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and directed by Doug Liman.Pitt and Jolie play a married couple who to all outward appearances have an idyllic marriage. They engage in small talk with one another over everyday things, have dinner at the neighbor's, and busy themselves at their high-paying jobs. However that normalcy is all an act. Mr and Mrs Smith are both hired assassins, and neither spouse is aware of the other's real and deadly occupation.
When the two discover they've been hired for the same job, a lethal game of cat and mouse ensues, pitting the two gorgeous killers against one another in a life or death struggle.
Jolie and Pitt have terrific chemistry and writer Simon Kinberg and director Doug Liman have crafted a story that allows the two to show off their best assets. "Mr and Mrs Smith" is an entertaining blend of genres: part love story, part spy thriller, mixed with an action adventure film complete with car chases and shoot-outs.
The bonus features are about what you'd expect from a major studio release with the exception of the commentary tracks. There are a couple of tracks done by the director and other behind-the-scenes figures, but there's no commentary track with the actors. That's actually understandable - though regrettable - given the circumstances surrounding offscreen Pitt/Jolie relationship.
