Paramount and Warner Bros. Snag Director David Fincher

By Rebecca Murray, About.com

July 5, 2005 - David Fincher's ("Panic Room") slate is getting awfully full. Fincher has just signed on to direct "Zodiac,"* the story of a serial killer who menaced San Francisco during the 60s and 70s, and he's also just committed to directing "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.

"Zodiac" is in the pre-production stage and will star Mark Ruffalo, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr. Based on Robert Graysmith's "Zodiac" books, the film will chronicle the search for the elusive Zodiac killer (a man who has never been brought to justice). Filming is expected to begin soon in San Francisco and LA.

Fincher will also direct "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" however filming on that project isn't scheduled to begin until late 2006. "Benjamin Button" will mark the third collaboration between director Fincher and actor Brad Pitt ("Se7en" and "Fight Club").

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" tells the story of a man who, after reaching 50, begins to get younger each year.
