Nov 1, 2007 - Rumors of a second X-Files movie have circulated for years. 20th Century Fox was apparently close to putting the film into production early in 2007 but backed off due to undisclosed reasons. Now Variety is reporting the studio is ready to move forward with a new X-Files film.
The studio is trying to keep the direction of the second X-Files movie a secret, however the original X-Files stars are definitely set to return. David Duchovny ('Mulder') and Gillian Anderson ('Scully') will be reuniting with X-Files creator Chris Carter who'll direct the film. Carter co-wrote the screenplay with Frank Spotnitz.
While promoting The TV Set in April, Duchovny said he was ready to step back into Mulder's shoes. “Absolutely, it would be fun," said Duchovny. “We’re all gung ho and we’re just waiting.”
The studio is aiming for a July 25, 2008 release.
