David Benioff Tapped for "Wolverine" Writing Duty

By , About.com Guide

Oct 4, 2004 - Hugh Jackman brought the clawed (and flawed) superhero Wolverine to life in the "X-Men" movie franchise and now screenwriter David Benioff ("Troy," "Stay") has been hired to give the popular "X-Men" character a film of his own.

Even non-comic book fans fell for the talon-clawed Wolverine, brought to life on the big screen by Jackman. 20th Century Fox and the powers behind "Wolverine" the movie hope Jackman will be interested in reprising his role for this "X-Men" spinoff.

The studio will proceed work on "Wolverine" and "X-Men 3" at the same time, with Simon Kinberg hired on to pen the "X3" script.
