April 25, 2005 - Spike Lee had to pull out of directing duties and it looks like it might be "Alexander" director Oliver Stone who will take over the helm of the much-delayed "The Night Watchman"* movie, set to star Keanu Reeves.
"The Night Watchman" movie is an adaptation of James Ellroy's script and follows a disgraced police officer who fights to redeem himself once he discovers corruption in the police department.
Alexandra Milchan, Lucas Foster and Erwin Stoff will produce "The Night Watchman."
Keanu Reeves recently completed work on "A Scanner Darkly" and is currently filming "Il Mare" with "Speed" co-star Sandra Bullock. Reeves has a role as Sinbad on the horizon as director Rob Cohen ("XXX") has cast the star in his "8th Voyage of Sinbad" film, set to begin shooting in early 2006.
