May 22, 2007 - Four-time Oscar-nominee Kenneth Branagh has joined Tom Cruise in director Bryan Singer's World War II movie, Valkyrie, set up at United Artists. Filming is expected to begin on the drama in mid-July.
Valkyrie is based on true events about a scheme to assassinate Hitler hatched by German generals. According to Variety, Branagh has nabbed the role of a general who mentors Cruise's character.
Chris McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander wrote the script for the WWII drama. Cruise is executive producing with McQuarrie and Singer producing.
