Disney's finishing up a deal to make a live-action (they want to use a real dog with a few CGI improvements) "Underdog" movie, with Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, Jonathan Glickman and Jay Polstein onboard to produce the flick.
Producer Barber told Variety, "Anything where you have a dog in that superhero context, that's appealing on a global basis. Those films do very well, and there's no better brand than Disney for this kind of movie."
The TV series ran throughout the 1960s and early 70s and featured a mild-mannered beagle who would transform into Underdog, a canine superhero.
Filming is expected to begin in January. There's no word yet on a director or the furry star.
