Sep 11, 2007 - Joseph Kosinski will direct the new Tron movie according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter. The new Tron movie won't necessarily be a remake of the 1982 movie but instead will be a new chapter in the Tron story.
The 1982 Tron was one of the first computer generated visual effects movies and considered a groundbreaking film for its time. Jeff Bridges starred in the original film which featured a computer programmer who was inserted into the world of a computer where he was forced to participate in wild, gladiator-style games.
Steven Lisberger wrote and directed the '82 movie and will serve as a producer on the new Tron. Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Lost) are working on the script.
Director Kosinski may work on Warner Bros' Logan's Run prior to helming Tron.
