"Torso" is based on the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko. Ehren Krueger ("The Ring," "The Skeleton Key") will adapt the novel, which follows the true story of how Treasury Department agent Eliot Ness' spent his time after putting Al Capone in jail.
With the days of pursuing Capone behind him, Ness moved to Cleveland and obtained work as Public Safety Officer. When torsos began showing up around Cleveland, Ness became involved in what is considered the first serial killer case in United States history.
In a statement released by Todd McFarlane Entertainment, McFarlane said, "Having nurtured this project for close to seven years now with TME President Terry Fitzgerald, Im proud weve been able to assemble assembled such a strong team. Bill Mechanic, Don Murphy, Ehren Kruger and of course David Fincher have all been involved in many big movies of the past few years. 'Se7en' is one of my favorite movies and Finchers visual direction will bring a certain look and style to this project. As will Krugers characterizations.
The start date for the project has not been set.
David Fincher is currently busy directing "Zodiac." "Zodiac," which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo, is the story of the serial killer nicknamed Zodiac who terrorized San Francisco in the 60s and 70s.
