The long-awaited sequel to the 1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair appears to be slowly moving forward. MGM's chosen Paul Verhoeven to direct The Thomas Crown Affair 2 with Pierce Brosnan returning in the lead role.
Production is expected to begin (barring any need for rewrites should there be a prolonged writers strike) early next year. According to Variety, the story will take place in Europe and the Middle East. Crown will get caught up in a centuries-old feud.
Verhoeven's latest directorial effort was the 2006 film Black Book. Brosnan's been keeping busy working on Mamma Mia!, the musical romantic comedy featuring ABBA songs.
