"The Fog" Creeps Back Into Theaters

John Carpenter's "The Fog" to be Remade

By Rebecca Murray, About.com

Oct 28 2004
One of my personal favorite John Carpenter movies - "The Fog" - is being given new life at Revolution Studios. Revolution snatched up the rights to remake the classic 1980 horror movie, with Cooper Layne ("The Core") busy working on the script.

The new "The Fog" will be an updated version of John Carpenter's creepy film. In Carpenter's "The Fog," dead sailors pay a visit to the sleepy coastal town of Antonio Bay and, under the cover of fog, murder the townsfolk. The original, which starred Adrienne Barbeau and Jamie Lee Curtis, was made for an estimated $1 million and has brought in $21 million in the U.S. to date (according to IMDB).

Debra Hill, David Foster, and John Carpenter will produce the remake. Filming is expected to begin in February 2005.
