Michael Chabon to Write "Snow and the Seven"

By , About.com Guide

Oct 29 2004
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" provides the basis for the martial arts-themed movie, "Snow and the Seven." Novelist Michael Chabon will write the script and Yuen Wo Ping, the man who was responsible for choreographing "The Matrix" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," will make "Snow and the Seven" his first English language feature film directorial effort.

Variety describes "Snow and the Seven" as a martial arts/Chinese fantasy, an East-Meets-West story. The Hollywood Reporter claims the film will be set in China during the 1880s and the 'seven' are Shaolin monks.

Andrew Gunn will be producing the movie, which will be overseen by Walt Disney Pictures' Brigham Taylor.
