Brett Ratner May Direct 'The Incredible Shrinking Man'

Peter Segal was attached at one point, but now it looks as though Universal Pictures and Brett Ratner may be teaming up for a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man. Eddie Murphy's attached to star in the sci-fi comedy which is a new twist on the 1957 film directed by Jack Arnold and based on a story by Richard Matheson.

Currently in active development, The Incredible Shrinking Man tells the story of a Las Vegas magician who begins to shrink. He must figure out a way to break the spell before he disappears.

Brian Grazer's producing the film with Murphy and Karey Kirkpatrick executive producing. The script has been through numerous rewrites (including one by writer/director Segal) with the Reno 911! guys, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, responsible for the latest version.

Eddie Murphy will next be seen in the comedy Meet Dave which hits theaters this July.
