Chris Columbus Teams with Revolution Studios for "Rent"

October 1, 2004 - With Warner Bros. out of the picture, Revolution Studios has stepped up to finance "Rent" the movie, based on the Tony Award-winning musical. Chris Columbus will direct the film, with a tentative release date set for the 2005 holiday season.

Columbus worked on the script with Stephen Chbosky, and sticks with the film as it moves to Revolution Studios. According to reports in Variety, Columbus first became involved with "Rent" after completing the first two "Harry Potter" films.

"Rent" will be produced by Columbus, Jane Rosenthal, Robert DeNiro, Michael Barnathan, and Mark Radcliffe.
