By , About.com Guide

May 15, 2005 - Variety is reporting Robert Altman has chosen his next project. Altman will direct Meryl Streep, Woody Harrelson, Lindsay Lohan, John C Reilly, Maya Rudolph, and Lily Tomlin in what Variety describes as "a spin-off" of the Garrison Keillor radio show, "A Prairie Home Companion."

According to Variety, the "Prairie Home Companion"-inspired film will start production this summer. The fictional film is set on the last day of Keillor's radio show, with all the tension and behind-the-scenes events the focus of the movie.

Multiple Oscar nominee Robert Altman is currently filming "Paint" with Salma Hayek. Academy Award-winner Meryl Streep will next be seen in the romantic comedy, "Prime," with Uma Thurman.

Lindsay Lohan has been keeping busy partying and filming "Herbie Fully Loaded" and "Just My Luck." Harrelson has "The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio" and "A Scanner Darkly" set for release later this year.
