Mr Peabody, a genius dog, and his human buddy Sherman are heading to the big screen. DreamWorks Animation is readying production on a film adaptation of the popular cartoon series, Mr Peabody & Sherman.
The man behind The Lion King, Rob Minkoff, returns to directing an animated movie for the first time since his hugely successful Lion King film with Mr Peabody & Sherman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Minkoff first pitched Mr Peabody to Universal where it was in development before making its way to DreamWorks Animation.
For those unfamiliar with the classic cartoon series, Mr Peabody & Sherman followed the adventures of a super smart dog and his best friend Sherman as they traveled back in time to important events in history.
Tiffany Ward, the daughter of the original producer of Mr Peabody & Sherman Jay Ward, will executive produce the film. Andrew Kurtzman has been tapped to write the screenplay.
