Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Motion Pictures and Platinum Studios, Inc. are teaming up to make a feature film out of the not yet published comic book Final Orbit. The Final Orbit comic book, described as an action thriller, is set to be released in early 2009. The release date of the movie version of Final Orbit has yet to be announced.
The Final Orbit story involves lottery winners on vacation at the International Space Station. Their peaceful, relaxing vacation turns into a nightmare when the Space Station is damaged and there aren't any experts available to help them fix it. In a press release announcing the deal, Hurd said, "Final Orbit has all of the classic cat-and-mouse, edge-of-your-seat elements to be a fantastic white-knuckle thriller. Being able to develop the motion picture alongside the comic book allows for the cross pollination of creative ideas that benefit both avenues."
Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Chairman and CEO of Platinum Studios, and Hurd are producing the film. Randy Greenberg will be executive producing.
