Mar 22, 2007 - Rob Cohen will direct, Brendan Fraser returns as the film's star, and Jet Li may just play the main villain in The Mummy 3 for Universal Pictures. Filming is expected to start in July with the studio set to release The Mummy 3 in July, 2008.
The team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Spider-Man 2, Herbie Fully Loaded) wrote the screenplay. The story's rumored to be set in China and involve the 6,000 terra-cotta warriors built to protect an emperor's tomb, however exact details aren't being divulged.
Mummy star Fraser was asked about whether there was a possibility he and/or Rachel Weisz wouldn't be returning for the third Mummy movie. “No, the structure is the same, the same family structure," answered Fraser. "However it has a different setting and I actually might be – stay tuned. What else can I tell you?”
