New Line Cinema Brings "Meg" to Life

70', 70,000 Pound Shark Attacks Theaters

April 25, 2005 - Tsunami Books picked up the rights to Steve Alten's best seller "MEG" from Bantam Books and New Line Cinema is preparing to the bring the tale of the prehistoric cousin of the great white shark to the big screen. Jan de Bont ("Twister") has been tapped to direct the action film which features a 70-foot, 70,000 pound 'Carcharodon Megalodon'.

"I'm excited about this new development and look forward to working more closely with Tsunami," stated novelist Alten in a press release announcing the acquisition. "This was my first novel and it's great to be able to go back and tighten the writing. If you think you enjoyed 'MEG' before, this version will turn your hair white."

"At Tsunami we look for projects and authors with multiple opportunities in mind," added Bob Bellin, CEO of Tsunami Books. "Steve is such a compelling writer and both 'MEG' and 'The Loch' have feature film written all over them."
