"Dodgeball" director Rawson Marshall Thurber has signed on to direct the movie version of the classic '80s TV series "Magnum PI" for Universal Pictures.Tom Selleck starred in the long-running series set which aired on CBS from 1980-1988. Selleck played private eye Thomas Magnum, a former military intelligence officer who was hired by millionaire playboy Robin Masters to oversee security on Master's huge Hawaiian estate. Magnum also took side jobs tracking down baddies along with a couple of his military buddies.
There's no word yet on whether the movie version will feature an appearance by Selleck, however the creators of the series - Donald Bellisario and Glen Larson - will serve as executive producers.
