Box Office Report - October 10-12

Who would have thought
Beverly Hills Chihuahua, a Disney family-friendly dog movie, would not only beat the team of Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ridley Scott, but haul in an impressive $17 million in its second weekend of release? To put it bluntly,
Body of Lies tanked, something that was totally unexpected given its star power. Audiences haven't warmly embraced any war film released over the past few years, and even the drawing power of DiCaprio and Crowe couldn't sell this drama.
The Express also fumbled the ball, scoring a measly $4.7 million.

The cast of the Screen Gems thriller
Quarantine hit the red carpet for the film's premiere at Knott's Scary Farm, a suitably creepy locale for hosting the horror movie. Celebs and special invited guests had to manuever their way down the red carpet while some creepy-looking zombies attempted to scare shrieks of fright out of them. After making their way past the zombies,
Quarantine premiere guests had to navigate through a spooky maze before finally finding safety in the theater. As the stars of the film were making their way past the zombies, they stopped to chat up

One of the best things about covering movie premieres is the chance to snag an interview with a random celeb who's shown up to take in the screening. The random celeb I was on the watch for at the
RocknRolla premiere was Kellan Lutz, 'Emmett Cullen' in
Twilight. I admit it - I'm a
Twilight fan. I've read all four of Stephenie Meyer's teen vampire romance books and, yes,
Twilight is the movie I'm most looking forward to seeing in November (
Quantum of Solace is a close, close second).

Lutz strolled the red carpet at
RocknRolla's LA premiere and he was definitely enthusiastic about talking about
Twilight. He was also up for talking about one of my personal favorite shows from this past summer -
Generation Kill.

It's Guy Ritchie's latest film, an action comedy that marks his return to
Snatch and
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels form. A sprinkling of cast members -
Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton, and Idris Elba - showed up in LA for a special screening of the film, which has already had a batch of premieres around the world. And while writer/director Ritchie is busy with
Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, and couldn't be there to celebrate with his cast, producer Joel Silver was on hand to talk about working with Ritchie on both
RocknRolla and
Sherlock Holmes.
