Apr 23, 2005 - One of my personal favorite classic TV shows is finally going to be made into a feature film. "Land of the Lost," the NBC series which aired in the mid 1970s, is set to be made into a comedy movie starring former "Saturday Night Live" star Will Ferrell.
Sid and Marty Krofft will produce "Land of the Lost," with Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas ("The Ladies Man") adapting the screenplay. "Anchorman" writer/director Adam McKay is set to helm the film for Universal Pictures.
The "Land of the Lost" TV series followed the adventures of the Marshall family. Dad Rick and his kids Will and Holly were transported back in time while rafting down the Colorado River. The Marshall's had to fight off dinosaurs, the deadly Sleestak, and made friends with Chaka the little monkey boy. You seriously could not have asked for a campier TV series, and the idea of making a movie based on the show has been kicked around for years.
Will Ferrell will next be seen in the family comedy "Kicking and Screaming" and opposite Nicole Kidman in "Bewitched." Ferrell's currently at work on the film adaptation of "The Producers" starring Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane.
