Universal Lands "Land of the Dead"

From Zombie Master George A. Romero

By Rebecca Murray, About.com

Sept. 2004 - Casting is underway for George A. Romero's return to the world of zombies, "Land of the Dead." Universal Pictures worked a deal to distribute Romero's new thriller, with production expected to begin in October 2004.

"Land of the Dead" returns Romero to the genre he's famous for - zombie thrillers. His past ventures include the 1968 cult classic, "Night of the Living Dead," the 1978 hit "Dawn of the Dead" (remade in 2004 by Zach Synder), and 1985's "Day of the Dead."

Variety reports "Land of the Dead" will be set in contemporary times where the living inhabit a walled-in city.
