Feb 25, 2005 - "I, Robot" director Alex Proyas will take charge of the supernatural thriller, "Knowing," to be produced by Steve Tisch, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and David Alper, according to "The Hollywood Reporter."
Ryne Pearson wrote an early draft of the script, with "Donnie Darko" writer/director Richard Kelly also taking a crack at the project with an eye toward making "Knowing" as his second film.
Kelly told me in an interview that he intended to start production on "Knowing" back in early 2004 if everything fell into place. But legal entanglements over the screenplay and problems securing funding made Kelly move on to "Southland Tales."
Prior to the start of production on "Southland Tales," Kelly completd the Director's Cut of "Donnie Darko" and has gone on to write the screenplay to "Domino" for director Tony Scott. "Domino," starring Keira Knightley and Mickey Rourke, recently wrapped production and will be released in the summer of 2005.
