Knight Rider Movie Closer to Becoming a Reality

The Weinstein Company Gets Serious About a Knight Rider Film

By , About.com Guide

May 9 2006
Now that Revolution Studios is out of the picture, The Weinstein Company is hot to make a Knight Rider movie based on the classic 1980s TV series.

For those too young to have first-hand knowledge of Knight Rider, the series starred David Hasselhoff (pre-Baywatch) and a talking car named K.I.T.T. (voiced by William Daniels). Together the two fought crime with the help of a mysterious benefactor.

Glen A Larson created the TV series and is adapting the show for the big screen. Larson will also serve as executive producer. There have been talks of a Knight Rider film over the years but Larson thought they were all too comedic in tone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Weinstein Company and Larson have agreed on a darker, edgier version of the series.

There's no word yet on whether Hasselhoff will appear in the Knight Rider movie.
