Brian Selznick's children's book The Invention of Hugo Cabret about a 12-year-old orphan who lives in the walls of a Paris train station and has a skill for fixing things is headed to the big screen. Warner Bros and Initial Entertainment Group picked up the screen rights and Martin Scorsese may be directing.
John Logan, who worked with Scorsese on the 2004 film The Aviator, will be adapting Selznick's novel. Scorsese has a lot on his plate right now after coming off the hugely successful Boston mob movie, The Departed. As well as talk of a sequel to The Departed, Scorsese's been linked to The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, The Last Duel, and Silence (with Javier Bardem rumored to be ready to play Francis Garrpe).
