Jun 14, 2005 - Academy Award-winning actor Tim Robbins ("Mystic River") is in talks to star in the political thriller "Hot Stuff," to be directed by Phillip Noyce ("The Quiet American").

Robbins would play a police officer serving in South Africa during the apartheid era. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will follow a man forced to resort to terror in order to survive.

Derek Luke and Bonnie Mbuli have already signed on to the film which is based on true events. Shawn Slovo (the daughter of murdered activist Ruth First and African National Congress figure Joe Slovo) wrote the screenplay for "Hot Stuff" and Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fullner are producing with Slovo's sister, Robyn.

Tim Robbins will next be seen alongside Tom Cruise in "War of the Worlds" and in "Zathura" directed by Jon Favreau.
