June 17, 2005 - Filming will begin on the remake of the horror movie, "The Hills Have Eyes," on June 27, 2005 in Morocco. "High Tension" director Alexandre Aja will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with writing partner Gregory Levasseur. Wes Craven, the director of the original "The Hills Have Eyes" film, will produce the remake along with Peter Locke, and Marianne Maddalena.

"X2: X-Men United" star Aaron Stanford, Ted Levine, Kathleen Quinlan, Vinessa Shaw, Emilie de Ravin, Dan Byrd, and Robert Joy have been cast in the Fox Searchlight Pictures remake.

Fox Searchlight Pictures announced the following plot synopsis: "A family road trip goes terrifyingly awry when the travelers become stranded in a government atomic zone. Miles from nowhere, the Carters soon realize the seemingly uninhabited wasteland is actually the breeding ground of a blood-thirsty mutant family...and they are the prey."

"The Hills Have Eyes" reunites director Aja with his "High Tension" director of photography, Maxime Alexandre. Joseph Nemec will serve as production designer. Lawrence Grey, Vice President of Production for Fox Searchlight, and Creative Executive Jeffrey Arkus will oversee the project for Searchlight.
