"The Hills Have Eyes" Remake News

Four Find Their Way to "The Hills Have Eyes"

By , About.com Guide

June 16, 2005 - Another '70s horror film is being remade but this time around the original director is not only producing the update, he's working with the new director to make sure it's done right. Wes Craven's "The Hills Have Eyes" is being updated/revamped by writer/director Alexandre Aja ("High Tension") with Craven's blessing.

When I spoke to French director Alexandre Aja in May 2005 about "High Tension," he was in Morocco scouting locations. Aja must have liked what he saw as filming of "The Hills Have Eyes" is expected to begin there next month.

"X-Men 2's" Aaron Stanford, Ted Levine, Vinessa Shaw, and Kathleen Quinlan have signed on to star in the horror film, which Aja promises will be even more violent than the original. Emilie de Ravin, Dan Byrd, Robert Joy, Billy Drago and Tom Bower are also part of the cast.

"The Hills Have Eyes" follows a family terrorized by maniacs when they make a wrong turn while on vacation (that's what happens when you don't stop for directions!).

"The Hills Have Eyes" remake was written by Alexandre Aja and his screenwriting partner Gregory Levasseur. Craven, Marianne Maddalena and Peter Locke will serve as producers.
