Studios Team Up for "Halo" Film

Universal and Fox Unite for "Halo" Movie

By Rebecca Murray, About.com

Aug 23 2005
Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox are uniting to bring the hit videogame "Halo" to the big screen. The studios foresee "Halo" as being one of the big summer releases of 2007, attracting videogame players, fans of action films, and teens out on summer vacation to the theaters.

Alex Garland ("28 Days Later") wrote the script and will be working on tweaking it after Universal hires a director (Fox will be handling the foreign distribution).

Microsoft, the maker of "Halo" the game, will be heavily involved in the production of the film. In fact, Microsoft commissioned the script and had very specific demands when it sent the proposal out to studios, including creative control and a quick turnaround time for production to begin once the deal was finalized.
